ABS/Traction Control MIL on a '06 Torrent...
Kim brought her toy back from Sarasota with an intermittant problem. The ABS and TC MIL lights are intermittant. I cleared them this morning, they came back, cleared them again, and they haven't returned..yet. It'* and '06 Torrent FWD and I can't find anything mechanically amis. (brake fluids fine, wheel hub sensors and their wiring look good, not even sure where the module is for this.)
Actron CP9145 would not read any DTC'* (came back as no stored codes), but it would clear the lights, so something must have been going on even if the tool can't see it. This one has read codes from the vehicle in the past..like the code from the loose gas cap. Is it common for aftermarket scanners to not be able to read codes comming from the ABS systems? (Some of you folks with late model Bonnies: ever been able to read ABS related DTC'* ?)

Not with the Actron... And for that matter most of the tools will not read the BCM or ABS/Traction or Stability codes..
Most of the ones that will would be a Snapon, Tech 2 and the like... Mostly the very expensive units...
I'd love to be able to read ABS Codes

I ran into the same thing with my AutoEnginuity scanner. Even though their site says that it will read the ABS/TC system with the GM enhanced parameters, it does not. The closest they come to a disclaimer is that not all systems are available on all cars.
The most common cause is an intermittent wheel speed sensor. The dealer can be a funny place for getting those read. When I took mine in, they tried to convince me that I had to leave the car as it would take a couple of hours to run a diagnostic on it.

Ok, just a follow up. Ended up taking it to the dealer for work under warranty. It was the pass side wheel hub sensor (internal damage to the pickup that reads the reluctor ring). Never did get the codes out on my own. I may have to invest in a better tool at some point..though, this is the first ABS related failure I've run across in 10 years.
